Due to the spread of COVID-19, the Dallas County Community College District has announced plans for a virtual graduation ceremony on Saturday, June 13. Chancellor Joe May made the announcement in an email to staff and faculty May 15.
“This year’s graduating classes will be the final ones for our colleges before we transition to Dallas College,” May said. “Around this time of year, the buzz and excitement of graduation typically fills the air. It’s a moment for us to congratulate and honor the commitment and hard work of our students.”
Entrepreneur and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban will serve as the keynote speaker. “I am thrilled that Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, has agreed to serve in that capacity and look forward to the inspirational message he will share,” May said.
May said the district will be providing a cap and gown free of charge to each eligible participant to mark the occasion.
More details surrounding the virtual graduation are to come. “I look forward to sharing more information soon as we prepare for this special day of recognition,” May said.
