Ask a Professor – Presidential elections
February 20, 2012
Question: What resources are available to students to be better informed about a presidential candidate?
Answer: Ahad Hayaud-Din, government professor: Students can go to the recommended websites and compare their findings. The sites include a one-stop resource for all elections at www.votesmart.org, factchecking source for claims made by candidates at www.politifact.com and a humorous perspective at www.indecisionforever.com. Students can go straight to the candidates’ websites to check their mission statements, policy positions and official releases. They can then cross-reference the information and make an informed decision.
