Lost and found relocated to new place

Alex Maya, Distribution Manager

The campus lost and found has moved and is now in the S Building, inside the Office of Student Life, Room S201.

According to Shanee Moore, associate dean of Student Life, and Willadean “Deanie” Martin, retired director of business operations for Dallas College, the location change was made last November.

Most students who lost items contacted the Student Life office for help. The move made the lost and found more accessible to students. “We enjoy serving our students,” Moore said.

Originally, lost and found was located in the campus police department next to B Building entrances. The location was changed again before landing in its new home.

Many students who are missing belongings may not know a lost and found exists on campus. Alejandro Romero, a Brookhaven student, said, “I didn’t even know there was a lost and found on campus.”

In its current location, Tram Nguyen, Brookhaven instructor, oversees the lost and found along with the campus police department. “Apart from the location change, there’s really not been that much change with lost and found,” Nguyen said. “The police department is also responsible for the lost and found along with me.”

She said any found items can be turned in to her before 7 p.m. After 7 p.m., any found items should be turned in to the police department in the B Building.

“If a student wants to recover an item, they now must fill out a small form here so that way we know who claimed the item,” Nguyen said.

Lost and found is available 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Brookhaveans can claim lost items between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Fridays.

Items that are not claimed within 30 business days are donated. To claim missing items, visit the Office of Student Life or by email [email protected] and give Nguyen a description of the item and where it was last seen.
