Students, staff and faculty have access to discounts for sporting events, recreational activities and technology, including discounts for Microsoft Office programs and Dell computers.

Sylvia Wise, the director of alumni strategy and relations at Brookhaven Campus, said Dallas College offers discounts some may not know they can get with their student and staff IDs.

“Students can benefit most from free Microsoft Office software that they have access to,” Wise said.

Most professors require Microsoft Word and other Microsoft software for coursework in their classes. A Microsoft 365 Personal software subscription costs $69.99 a year on Microsoft’s website.

All students, staff and faculty have free access to Microsoft 365 with their Dallas College email. Microsoft 365 includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint – programs most students will use throughout their classes.

“We also have some fun discounts that students can engage in,” Wise said. These discounts are not only for educational purposes but for recreational enjoyment. They include discounted tickets to the Dallas Mavericks, Texas Rangers and the Dallas Museum of Art.

Dallas College student Olivia Riggs said she had a trouble-free experience using her ID at the Dallas Museum of Art. “It was really easy actually,” Riggs said. “I just reserved my ticket a couple days before and showed them my ID and they let me in. I just had to pay for parking.”

The DART Student GoPass gives students access to free transportation, according to the Dallas College website. The DART GoPass does not only apply to transportation to and from Dallas College campuses, but to the entire DART bus and train network, including GoLink.

Phone companies such as T-Mobile and AT&T offer discounts on wireless phone plans for staff and faculty.

Employees can also enjoy educational discounts. “We have tuition discounts with certain universities,” Wise said.

Abilene Christian University and Phoenix University are some of the universities that offer tuition discounts to faculty and staff who are looking to further their education.

Wise said Dallas College students who are continuing their education at universities can still qualify for some of these benefits. “With our Dallas College Alumni Network, we also have alumni perks and discounts,” Wise said. These include discounts with Dell, the Mavericks and Rangers, among others.

By joining the Dallas College Alumni Network, graduates have access to these perks and discounts.

Students, staff and faculty can search for discounts on the Dallas College website.
