Brookhaven Campus has a resource many students, staff and faculty may not be aware of: the Fitness Center. Jorge Rodriguez, fitness general manager at Brookhaven, shared information on the Fitness Center and the times it is available to the public.
The Fitness Center is located in the basement of T Building in Room T123A. The center is open for current enrolled Students, staff and faculty. To check in, gym-goers will need to sign a waiver, bring their Dallas College issued ID and gym clothes. It is highly recommended to bring a water bottle as well.
Workout equipment is offered, including cardio machines, weight training machines and dumbbells. “We have a wide range of people who work out here at the Fitness Center, from beginners all the way up to student athletes,” Roriguez said.
The center will also provide intramural sports programs at Brookhaven during April. Open basketball and dodge ball competitions and friendly competitions in weightlifting, push-ups and jump rope will also be held at the center. Rodriguez said, “We’re trying to engage people and provide opportunities for them to come and feel included in the fitness lifestyle.”
The center also serves as a classroom for some PHED classes.
Students who prefer working out outdoors can take a jog around the two-mile jogging trail wrapping around Brookhaven. Rodriguez said if any students are unsure or have any questions regarding any of the equipment or services available, they are welcome to ask him for assistance.
