New New Festival
March 8–18
New New Festival, a Dallas-Fort Worth music festival featuring over 100 indie artists, is celebrating its third year. The festival will take place at multiple locations, all of which can be found on the festival’s website. The lineups for each day can also be found on the website. The festival takes place over two weekends. The festival will began with the Kick-Off Show on March 8 at Wriggly Tin, running 6-11 p.m.
Dallas Museum of Art
March 14-17
The Dallas Museum of Art will hold multiple Spring Break Family Fun events, open to all ages. The Movement Scavenger Hunt will involve searching the various art collection for specific details, such as wiggly lines and shapes that appear to be in movement. The hunt will be open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Main Services Desk. The Sensory Haven will be located on level M2, and serve as a rest and relaxation area. The haven will be open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors can create their own art at the Sculpture Station on Level 1. A plethora of materials, such as pipe cleaners and cardboard, will be accessible to participants. Once they’re done, participants can take their art home or place it in the mini sculpture garden. The DMA will host many other events during Spring Break, including Art in Action, an art making activity, Color and Light Play, Story Time Tour and more.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade
March 16
The 41st Dallas Saint Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival will be host to a variety of events. The titular festival will start 11 a.m. at Greenville Avenue on Blackwell Street, and conclude 2 p.m. at SMU Boulevard and Central Expressway. Attendees can get to the parade via the DART train, getting off at Park Lane Station or Lovers Lane Station. The festival will be open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. In addition to the parade and festival, a 5K run will be held. The first place winner in the overall male and female competitions will win $500 cash. The run will start at Greenville Avenue on Energy Square. The run will began at 8 a.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m., with an awards ceremony at 8:45 p.m. Registration details for the parade, festival and 5K run can be found on the Dallas St. Patrick’s Day website.
