The first conference game for the Brookhaven Bears men’s basketball team opened with a fierce competition against the Cedar Valley Suns, ending in a hard-earned 98-95 victory.
The home game, which took place Jan. 20, was won in an intense overtime, with the Bears just pulling through in a 3-point lead. While the Suns held the lead field goals and 3-pointer percentage, the Bears were able to control the ball with more rebounds and assists.
Guard Curtis Trey Moffet led the Bears in scoring with 22 points, followed by guard Zach Gomez with 17 points.
Guard Grant Jessen and forward Jackson Lino accounted for the most rebounds, with 12 and 10 respectively.
As of press date, the Brookhaven Bears hold a record of 14-10.
Their next home game will be against the Mountain View Lions on Feb. 21.
