Spring break is right around the corner, and there are plenty of ways to enjoy the week without leaving the area. For students staying local for the break, there are a wide range of activities to explore. From markets to picnics, here are some of the top activities to try out this spring.
MARKETS & SHOPS
Dallas Farmers Market – Open throughout the week, the market features local vendors selling a variety of items from organic fruits to artisan crafts. The Shed, an open, outdoors structure also has farm-fresh fruits and vegetables for sale. The Market offers a selection of food shops and quick stop and sit-down eateries.
Four Seasons Market in Addison – Very close to the Brookhaven community, the market offers a curated selection of local goodies. It is a nice spot to support local businesses while still enjoying the outdoors of Addison Circle Park.
Carrollton Town Square – Just a bit north of Brookhaven, Historic Downtown Carrollton features a mixture of small boutiques, antique shops, restaurants and cozy cafes. It is a charming area to spend an afternoon browsing around the vintage shops and specialty stores.
ARTS & ACTIVITIES
Addison Circle Park – The park frequently hosts outdoor concerts, food truck events and even pet adoptions throughout the month. The city’s website is updated with weekly events held at the park: addisontx.gov/events-directory.
The Addison Improv – If you are a comedy fan, consider stopping by The Addison Improv, where nationally recognized comedians perform throughout the week.
The Craft Guild of Dallas – Located in Carrollton, this non-profit arts center offers workshops in pottery, glasswork, painting and more. Spring break is a great opportunity to take a class and create something of your own
OUTDOOR ESCAPES

Vitruvian Park – Only a five-minute car drive from Brookhaven Campus, the park’s open green spaces, sand volleyball court and scenic trails make for a great spot to unwind. Park hours are from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
Brookhaven Trail – A calm two-mile loop around the campus that is a tree-lined walking and biking trail. It is perfect for a morning jog or afternoon stroll with friends. Nearby trails include: Bachman Lake, Northaven Trail and Katy Trail.
Farmers Branch Historical Park – A mix of both nature and history, this park features historic homes, open greenery and walking paths. The park is a historic building museum that represents the 1840-1940 period and offers many opportunities such as guided tours, educational programs, outdoor activities and special events.
