Shehzil ImranDallas College is switching to a new platform to streamline and enhance the student experience of college this fall. Workday, the new platform, is going to replace Colleague/eConnect completely in the Fall 2025 semester for the Dallas College System.
Russ Pearlman, Chief Information Officer of Dallas College, said, “The college aims to streamline processes, improve operational efficiency and provide a secure, intuitive digital environment for students and staff.”
Peralman further explained that the benefits of Workday are its mobile-first approach as a platform, meaning it can be accessed from any device, increasing accessibility for students.
Students will also have greater self service control over personal information, programs of study and managing their account without the intervention from staff.
On the staff side of this, automated processes will increase efficiency when working with student information and college services.
Workday, being a more modern platform, will continue to be updated and receive upgrades with its subscription model.
As time goes on, users could see more features for the college and its students to take advantage of.
In-person assistance was provided during the roll out period, with the possibility of more in the future. Overall, major platform changes can be a headache for all it affects.
The switch came to a surprise for some. When Memory Soko, a nursing student at Brookhaven, said, “the day we went to try and register and tried to get to know it, we were told the staff at the Student Center didn’t know how to use it,” she said. “So we opted to go to the Success Coach to register because we were afraid that if we delayed, we wouldn’t be able to get the lecturers that we wanted for the fall semester.”
Students will still use eConnect for this summer, giving students, faculty and staff time to adjust before the Fall semester.
Dallas College sent out several email reminders for all students on how to login into Workday .
Students can contact customer service at 972-860-5455, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to midnight.
They can also email their questions to [email protected].
