Kanye West is one of the most recognizable singers and music producers in the last few decades. However, Kanye has lately been recognized for other things besides his music – and those are his worrisome opinions on Nazism and Adolf Hitler.
In February of this year, Kanye, now going with the shortened title of “Ye,” went on a manic spree, uploading numerous posts on X. Many of these posts were unhinged ramblings that spewed over topics the singer has involved himself in the past, but his most talked about written words are the ones over Nazism. “I love Hitler” and “I’m a Nazi” are simple words, but these simple words would shock anyone when stated to the public. Even more humorous posts such as “Hitler was sooooo fresh” haven’t really made anyone laugh, and for obvious reasons. These are only a select few of numerous other controversial words posted by the man.
As startling as these uploads are, it’s also important to note that this isn’t the first time Kanye had voiced these insane views of his to the world. Back in 2022, Kanye went on the Alex Jones Show and went off on a speech with varying subjects. The part of the speech that is remembered by most is where he stated, “every human being has something of value that they brought to the table, especially Hitler.” This mindset of Kanye’s has been shown to be extremely harmful for the Jewish community and it has only increased with his posts.
Even after his online ramblings, Kanye continued his strange obsession with Nazism by expressing jealousy over Steve Bannon and his usage of a salute. During a conservative gathering, former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon performed a movement with his hand that closely resembled a Nazi salute. Bannon had received massive backlash over this from nearly everyone, except for Kanye, who gave the outrageous response of “[White] guys have all the fun.”
Elon Musk gave a similar hand movement during a recorded rally for President Donald Trump’s inauguration. This was criticized even more than Bannon’s, and it’s a clip that can be found nearly anywhere on the internet. Kanye hadn’t given any public thought on Musk’s act, but from what was collected on the singer, it isn’t difficult to speculate what his view on it could have been.
During an interview with live streamer DJ Akademiks, Kanye caused even further outrage by wearing a black KKK outfit. In the same interview, the artist spoke even more controversial comments, while having a swastika medallion. The reason for why he wore this apparel is unknown, but most online speculate it being for attention.
Even more recently, Kanye made his debut on Twitch, a streaming platform. However, just seven minutes into the stream, Kanye got banned for doing a Nazi salute on camera. Additionally, he made antisemitic, racist and homophobic remarks before getting kicked off.
Kanye West is a notorious artist who has built a reputation for producing some of the most revolutionary music in the industry. However, his recent unhinged verbal actions have begun to damage said reputation to a point of no repair.
