Three hours outside of Dallas, the Texas Bigfoot Research Center is hosting their annual Bigfoot Conference in Jefferson. According to their website, “the Texas Bigfoot Research Center exists to validate what we believe to be an undocumented species of bipedal primate, an animal commonly referred to as the Sasquatch or Bigfoot.” The event will run from Oct. 17 – 19.
The conference was founded by Craig Woolheater who was born and raised in the Dallas area and attended, then, Brookhaven College in 1979. In an interview, he said, “I started the conference in 2001 because of public education, and I saw one in 1994. I was driving back to Dallas from New Orleans, and in the middle of nowhere, I saw a 7-foot figure with grayish hair walking on two legs.”
The two day conference will feature a variety of speakers including Matt Moneymaker from the Animal Planet series, Finding Bigfoot. It will take place at the Jefferson Tourism and Visitor Center.
