Corey Lyon is the Editor-in-Chief of the Brookhaven Courier. A journalist, photographer, and storyteller, he believes in the kind of reporting that keeps communities honest and connected. His work blends narrative depth with journalistic rigor, drawing inspiration from voices like Anthony Bourdain, Kurt Vonnegut, and Hunter S. Thompson.

Beyond the newsroom, Corey freelances for local and regional outlets, covering everything from Texas agriculture and community farming to global conflicts and culture. His camera is never far from reach — whether documenting life in Dallas, the Texas Hill Country, or places much farther from home.

At Brookhaven, he’s focused on shaping a student paper that tells real stories with honesty and bite, while giving fellow students the chance to find their voice in print. When he’s not chasing stories, Corey can be found experimenting in the kitchen, painting, tending his homestead farm, or testing out new tabletop game systems of his own design.
