Students who wish to register for classes that have filled to capacity will now have the opportunity to join a waitlist for classes available over the Summer and Fall 2026 semesters. All sections, except ones with controlled registration, will utilize a waitlist.
IMPORTANCE
Prior to this, once a class was full that was that. There was no way for students to sign up for
an opening. A new function within Workday, a first-come first-serve basis is set.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
There are 10 available spots on each waitlist. The Browsable Class Search will show if a class is full and/or if it has a closed waitlist. Eligibility and rule restrictions play a role, if students do not meet requirements for courses, they will not be able to waitlist them.
To join, students go through the View Course Section during registration on Workday. All waitlists close two days before classes start. Students can join multiple waitlists
After joining the waitlist, students will be notified via their Dallas College email if they are let into the class. From there, students have 24 hours to either decline or accept the offer.
If the student declines or does not respond in time, whoever is next on the waitlist will receive the next offer.
Faculty has the ability to add students to their class waitlists but are encouraged to let students add themselves through Workday.
Requests for over-enrollment to accommodate a student with a special request should be handled through existing processes within the faculty members’ school or department.
