Spider-Man and Superman meet again for another spectacular issue.
Although some might imagine a fierce rivalry between DC and Marvel, the truth is the two pillars of the comic industry have been on friendlier terms for quite some time with crossovers spanning years of comic history.
The first time the two heroes worked together was none other than “Superman vs The Amazing Spider-Man: The Battle of the Century” in 1976.
The new issue features multiple stories pairing Spider-Man and Superman into their own little bite sized adventures. The most prominent being the titular heroes themselves written by Mark Waid, who has contributed to both DC, with stories such as the fan favorite “Kingdom Come,” and Marvel with his work on his highly acclaimed Daredevil run.
The artist for the story, Jorge Jiménez, has illustrated for DC on some of their biggest titles such as Batman, Supergirl and Justice League.
The comic brings together many more artists and writers such as Tom King and Jim Lee, Matt Fraction and Stevee Lieber, Gaile Simone and Belén Ortega.
Each story included is not only a look into the interactions of the respective characters but a glimpse into the styles of those who worked on every part of the book, giving news readers to either series a jumping off point to get into comics from both DC and Marvel.
Showing off the best the comic industry has to offer in one tight package, Superman/Spider-Man manages to be a shining example of what the peak of comics can be.
Whether you’re a dedicated fan who has dreamed of this kind of crossover for years, or you’re completely unfamiliar with comics at all, this comic won’t disappoint.
