Yoga exercises provide stress relief, endurance

Lawrence McDonald, Brookhaven College yoga instructor, teaches his students that performing yoga exercises leads to better blood circulation, lower blood pressure and can also be used for stress relief. Oxygen entering the body is a benefit, McDonald said.
The Warrior I Pose strengthens leg and knee muscles.
The Warrior II Pose strengthens leg, knee, hip and arm muscles, as well as increasing groin flexibility.
The Child’s Pose stretches the knees and lower back and increases blood flow to the brain.
The Downward Facing Dog Pose increases strength and flexibility of the shoulders.
