The fountain in the Commons Courtyard bubbled back to life as the sound of cascading water filled the air in the center of Brookhaven Campus. Don Clinton, the facilities services supervisor at Brookhaven, said that the fountain had not been functioning properly for the past three months.
During the Fall 2025 semester, the fountain had been periodically active before getting shut off completely.
According to Clinton, a broken filler valve had prevented the courtyard’s centerpiece from filling up correctly. He said the fountain will be serviced soon for leaves and other debris.
Despite it being a non-instructional day, there were students scattered throughout the campus who got to see and hear its churning waters when the fountain started flowing again on March 31. Leidy Espinosa, a student at Brookhaven said that it was nice that the fountain was up again.
Another Brookhavean, Nicholas Castillo, said, “It adds a nice ambiance to the campus,” and added that the sound of the water can make studying more relaxing.
