Brookhaven College’s Alpha Delta Pi chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa society received the Five- Star Chapter Award.
Members also received an award of excellence for their college project. The project involved the reading Quality Enhancement Project and the Community College Completion Corps. Each officer also completed the Five-Star Competitive Edge Program and received awards for their high achievements in the Texas Regional Convention.
Individual awards earned by members include Vice President Chukwuka John Umeijiako receiving the Outstanding Officer Award, World Languages Professor Sheri Van Court receiving the Distinguished Advisor Award and Vice President for Business Services George Herring being inducted into the Hall of Honor for Outstanding Administrators.
The PTK’s 2013-2014 officers have been selected, and they have 60 new inductees in the program. The induction ceremony was held Sunday, March 10, with guest speakers Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Success Rodger Bennett and the Mayor of Farmers Branch, Bill Glancy. The club meets at least twice a month and is working on upcoming plans and research.
